“A strong career vision no longer guarantee the success in a global era. Particularly, unexpected changes in political and environment issues strongly influence and shift the global trends. The key to face that is to be generalist and specialist. Generalist to be aware with the general technology trends and to be one step ahead to read any chance and future trend related with the specific subject. Engineering physics ITB is the place I learned the basic of general engineering and also how each of them is correlated. Compare to student graduated from other department, engineering physics student have a less specific specialization, that I interpreted as two meanings, to be existed in most engineering project, and to be encouraged with a continue learning behavior. In particular, the later one influenced my career a lot. I found my interest on material science when I got involved in a gas sensor project for my final thesis. A dream to create a device for clean energy communities brought me to pursue my study overseas and have my present career.”

He is now with Centro Studi Componenti per Veicoli (CVIT), Bosch Italy, for overseas assignment.
“Unlike pure physics that you will learn merely theories and equations, at engineering physics ITB, I learned many applicable sciences that are very useful either if I want to directly to work after my graduation or if I want to continue to a higher degree of education. Since many engineering related jobs are based on physics, it means I have more options of job that can be apply to. I find out that subjects such as Mechanical Fluids and Material Physics are very useful to understand how the fuel behavior in a pipe, with different diameter, pressure, altitude, viscosity, etc and analyzing structure of utilized material for each components with respect of their working condition. And I think that Measurement Method is useful as well, especially to analyze observed series of data from testing, simulation or measurement.”

He conducts research on potential automotive market for wireless control and contributes to product roadmap planning.
“I really enjoyed the time when I was a student in engineering physics ITB. The courses include wide disciplines with the development of engineering expert paradigm. Eventhough only basic disciplines, the courses help me to pursue master and doctoral degrees, and to compete in the work environment. Basic knowledge in engineering physics can be applied in various scientific problems, in which requires various disciplines, either when I worked as a researcher or as an engineer. I felt that I chose the right path by taking engineering physics program at ITB, in which it becomes a valuable starting point of my career. Thank you very much engineering physics ITB!”

“Engineering Physics have trained me to have a “multidisciplinary” point-of-view. They equipped me with understanding of basic physics, hunger for knowledge, and nurture my critical thinking which allowed me to adjust immediately to graduate studies and PhD research despite not having Master’s degree or prior working experience.  The training I had during my 5 years in Engineering Physics also allows me to find the balance to switch “thinking caps” between different roles as engineer, scientist, and manager, which help me tremendously to get to where I am now and prepare me for what lies in the future. “
